Wow – what a day! Sailing adventures not for the faint of heart. We left around 8am (a little later than plan due to fog) and planned to buddy sail with our Texas guys on the SVForPlay. We had 3 swing/lift bridges in first 15 miles to get thru this morning. Here is a calm picture of SVForPlay coming thru the Ablemarble & Chesapeake Lift Bridge. Then everything went south. There was a barge coming down the narrow ICW the other way. SVForPlay went too far to the right and ran aground. They had to get their dinghy out to pull themselves out and their engine was overheating so we went on ahead of them. Then right after the North Landing Swing bridge, we hit a stump on our right hull and our keel. Scared the sh*t out of us. Luckily no damage (as far as we can tell). So continued on our way. We got to CoinJack (MM50) around at 1:30pm. We picked up gas and ice. We decided to get to Broad Creek (MM61) to anchor and position us for crossing the Ablemarble Sound in the morning. So as we entered into Broad Creek with the sun right in our eyes, we hit a crab pot. Luckily Captain Bill reacted quickly and cut the engines. We were able to remove the crab pot without any damage to the prop or the crab pot. So finally at 4:10pm we anchored in Broad Creek for the night with a beautiful sunset. Bill was so ready for a cocktail and early night. But me, I am rev’ed up. “What an awesome adventure” today. Things didn’t go quite right today, but everything ended well and we are such a great sailing team. We will see what tomorrow will bring. Good night.

WOW! You two must, indeed, be a great team dealing with the hazards that you described. I’m glad you got to enjoy that beautiful sunset and find a safe harbor for the night. Thank you for sharing your log for the day and the pictures you posted today. Stay safe and get some rest for the next leg of your journey.
